"I chose this form with your comfort in mind."
I really wished he hadn't.
Sure, from a distance you'd almost think he was Irken. Almost. Getting closer only made it more obvious. Everything was too long, his arms, his fingers, his antenna, everything. He had too many joints in his fingers and I've seen them bend in directions fingers aren't supposed to go. His antenna were so long they almost brushed against the floor. If you got even closer, speaking distance for example, you'd notice the faint seams in his skin, thin lines that gave lie to the idea he had skin instead of an exoskeleton.
The worst was his face. Or rather, his lack of one.
Of the mysteries that grew in the wake of the Second Machine War, one of the most well-known is the Enigma of Ignotus, the Ghost Planet. The planet Ignotus was a small, remote farming world located far from the frontlines, whose only role during the War was to assist in supplying food rations to the Alliance's hungry soldiers. During the final years of the War, when the fighting was at its hardest, the planet Ignotus' mandatory tithes to the War effort began to shrink more and more until they stopped completely along with all contact with the planet. An Imperial investigation was mounted as to discern the cause for the planet's sudden

Pull up those shields you maggots!
Lt. Brax was not having a good day. First; he wakes up to find that their serving his least favorite for breakfast, second; Cpl. Farrell replaced his tooth paste with hot sauce, third; the ship was attacked and destroyed and fourth and final; him and his boys were now stranded on the world they were sent to reinforce. Just great. He glanced at troops who were hauling three mobile shield generators as he pulled a pair of binoculars. The orbital dump had ceased minutes ago and the machine army, or at least what was left of it, was starting to mobilize to his position. H

Mercer ran for dear life as red hot debris rained from the sky, destroying everything its path. Smaller balls of debris fell all around him and punched through the street and about everything else in their path. He desperately tried to activate his PAKs shielding system to no avail; the escape from the ship must have damaged his PAK internally preventing some of the systems from activating. Suddenly a larger piece of debris smashed into the building in front of him. The building exploded, the shock wave sent Mercer flying straight through the window of an old pet shop. He felt white hot pain as glass shards cut his back open and stabbed

Lord Captain Aztrael stalked the deck of the Validus. Aztrael was different from most Skarath; his head was smaller and less toothy then most, his arms were much thinner and both his hands lacked a finger, and he lacked the second pair of arms all Skarath had. Most noticeably different of all were his legs, he had four spider-like legs that jutted out from under his robe in an almost menacing way. All in all, he appeared much like the Skarath ambassador Sevuri, though he lacked both the friendly appearance and attitude; he was also much thicker around the abdomen, a classic sign of a Skarath spacer, one who probably ha

A hail of metallic rain fell to the earth like a shower of meteors, a mix of debris and pods from the Ascending Order. The escape/drop pods pierced through the cloud cover like knifes through butter. Machine flak tore through many of the pods, igniting them like fireworks. The spaces within the black pod were dark; Mercer along with many other soldiers was crammed within the small space, strapped in place by webbing and braces. The only light came from a small red bulb, which flickered as the pod shook violently either by turbulence or glancing flak. The pod shuddered for a moment as it tried to slow itself as it neared the ground
